Doctors Day spl
Written by Dr. Amardeep Garg, 2020-08-15
On this auspicious day, I fondly remember our Ram Lila scene , when as a last resort , Lord Rama himself placed the life of his brother Lakshmana in the hands of Vaid Sushena ( enemy dr ) . My head bows down in front of the Mighty Ravana who not only acknowledged the power of Great Ayurveda but also rewarded Vaid Raj Sushena.
History repeats itself, when Bhai Kanhiyha in battlefield use to nurse friends and foes with equal fervour.
Tradition without exception continues till date. No doctor how ever corrupt , unethical he may be ,will never like to see his patient in mortuary.
All of us or our loved ones, at some stage of our lives, have been brought back to life from the clutches of KAAL by these ' White Coat Heroes ' .
Definitely, they are devduts on planet earth, . Also , they are our friends, philosophers and guides who walk with us during the worst phases of our lives. Their Divine hand , reassuring words , affectionate touch not only make us feel the presence of GOD , but surely, their miraculous presence enables us to see our dear ones again .
Can there be anything more important, precious than The Life herself. Taking someone's life is very easy but giving and sustaining life is definitely GODs work. To feel that nobleness, humbleness, softness better than a dr , we need to call upon Goddess Sarswati.
Dear friends, uttering affectionate words without meaning them is hypocracy at it's best. Beating thalis , showering petals , lighting candles has no meaning when the same people on just turning their face labels an innocent soul as Katil , Chor , lutera .......
Collective Governments, media with their relentless diatribe has made gullible public to believe that Drs are the root cause of their problems. Strangely, and unknowingly, a dangerous trend of violence against medical professionals perpetuated by state sponsored machinery in an attempt to hide their own failures hit the last bullet at
this tenuous relationship.
Gullible public in this country is too immature, poor , self centered and illiterate to understand the complexities and nuances of our profession.
In this COVID pandemic, brute reality of public has been exposed in full glare. COVID positive pts have not only been abondoned by friends and neighbors but by their immediate family members. I myself a witness to the utter scornful , mean and cold refusal to accompany a COVID positive pt by his own family friend. It was again an unknown medical hand who came to their rescue with complete disregard of his personal safety. , when their own family members were watching the scene from a distance.
This is the society which is airing their opinions about us. Shame on such people!
Be it a red hot summer or an chilled winter , we were , we are and we will be life saviours. I personally must have treated thousands and still today like millions of my other colleagues get up at first call from the hospital. Money , if at all , is too insignificant part of this pious relationship.
I fail to understand why government is hell bent on damaging this last bastion of hope . By patronizing Money based medical colleges, churning every year half baked legally valid graduates will further vitiates an already polluted relationship. Its the profession where ' Merit ' should be the sole criteria.
On this day , we expect and demand in public interest stringent quality check on medical education,.
This is one of the many reforms that needs to take place.
If we shut our eyes at this stage ,and if people at large keep expecting FREE ,
a day will come , when no good brains will enter into our profession , mediocrity will rule and mortuary will be the destination of every sick patient.
It will be too late then
