Mr channan was a happy go lucky chap in his teens. Full of life , very positive and a very good student . He had taken non medical in his plus one.
He always use to accompany his uncle ( chacha) in opd. His uncle a near by village sarpanch was suffering from diabetes and hypertension. Also he had suffered a minor heart attack. That village sarpanch a very clean hearted, gentleman but a very well connected man in politics too. He was very regular in his opd follow up and was doing well.
His nephew always do most of the talking on behalf of his uncle. He use to tell me about various other therapies for diabetes usually known but not up to the mark from Wikipedia.
He use to ask repeatedly can my uncle be off medication. Can he eat sugar ? .I generally use to satisfy his quarries.
One day , at 3.30pm , I got a call from hospital that a boy named channan is admitted in an unconscious state. He has been accompanied by at least 20 people including his uncle , all crying literally.
I immediately rushed , examined him quickly.
His oxygen saturation was 60% and was falling. He was turning blue .There was feeble pulse and almost unrecordable BP. He was immediately intubated and was placed on ventilator.
After making him a bit stable, I came to my chamber , after me whole lot of people from his village followed .
How is he ? I was asked.
In today's era of mistrust, violence and ever increasing threat of litigation , this simple quarry is quite difficult to answer.
I asked from his uncle .. wat happened brother ?
He was crying inconsolably without narrating any clear cut history. I again asked , he stepped backward.
This time chanan mother asked pointedly....
Dr saab, koi khabrane wali baat tu nahi . ( is there something serious to worry ).I gave them a cautious reply.
Again I asked firmly,... behan ji , I need to know exactly wat happened?
His uncle by now recomposed himself told everyone else to go out of my chamber including his mother.
He told me that channan recently fell into a bad company. He started taking injections and bhuki. A group of notorious people started frequenting the village. They enticed him . We are in dark till recently.
Today he had taken the drug in excessive doses.
He was found unconscious outside the village and was spotted by our villager. That's how immediately we brought him here.
Sir , plz save him , he is the only hope for the family. I will personaly take care of him in future. Since channan also has a gud repute with u. Plz guide him on your behalf also.
I reassured him ..saying that I 'll do my best.
Channan was treated wholeheartedly by our team. I myself stood beside him through out night.
Our team , and their never say die spirit ultimately pulled him out of the clutches of death. He was discharged on 3rd day.
I counselled him on behalf of his family and reminds him of his non medical stream.
After that channan never accompanied his uncle. Out of sheer modesty , I also didn't ask about him.
Around a month back , he came to the hospital with his uncle with a box of sweets. He cleared JEE advanced and got placed in electronic stream in PECC.
May God bless him.
